Be sure to bring plenty of film because it's that aforementioned view that makes D&M RV Park a sight you'll want to document. D&M RV Park sits on a wide bluff, which offers a breathtaking view of the Cook Inlet, with the sleeping volcanoes Mt. Redoubt and Mt. Illiamna as a backdrop.
Overlooking Deep Creek Beach, D&M RV Park is also the perfect viewpoint for taking snapshots of passing ships, acrobatic eagles, and squabbling herring gulls. An adjacent lighthouse, Deep Creek River, and verdant wetlands stocked with water fowl also draw the attention of many a photographer.
During spring and summer, minus tides enable you to dig for the ever popular razor clam. For many this delicacy is a winter staple, which draws untold numbers to Deep Creek Beach every year. For others it's an annual rite of passage to see who gives up first - the rapidly burrowing clam or the determined clam digger. Whatever your reason for going after this elusive quarry you'll find it great fun and the reward of savoring that rich chowder or crunchy clam strip will make it well worth the effort. Don't let being a rookie clam digger stop you from trying this vigorous activity; there will be many native Alaskans alongside you who will be happy to share their clam digging expertise.
Beach combing is also exciting as you flush eagles along your way. These amazing birds scavenge fish entrails in the surd and their angry high pitched calls fill the air. Whatever you do - don't forget your camera!
The Memorial Day holiday weekend heralds the official open season on salmon fishing in the many rivers of the Kenai Peninsula. One of the most popular rivers (Deep Creek) flows just below and to the north of D&M RV Park. It's just a short walk or drive just down the hill. Again, don't forget to take your camera; you'll want pictures when you land that first salmon of the season.
Local interests include Ninilchik Village. About 45 minutes south of Ninilchik is the town of Homer. We encourage all to visit this small old "Hippie" town. Its many shops, restaurants, and spectacular view of Kachemak Bay make Homer a must see!
At D&M RV Park we look forward to the pleasure of having you as our guest. Visit us for an unforgettable Alaska fishing vacation!
